Is there a cure for cancer?

"While there is no one magical formula to cure cancer, there is magic in the making of your own formula! You may discover much about your Self during this process. You may come to know your body, emotions and the world around you in a more meaningful way. You may heal on many levels and feel 'different' because of it. You may awaken to the spiritual dimension of being and find real purpose and joy in your life. Who knows what lies ahead? There is magic in the discovery and beauty in every moment along the way."

The internet offers a wealth of cancer information, and health and wellness related sites. Many lay claim to the cure for cancer and provide case studies and examples of people who have followed their methods and beaten the disease. Others believe meditation, positive thinking or self-improvement is the answer, while mainstream thinkers will look for the cure in conventional therapies such as chemotherapy, radiation etc. So who is right, and what outcome can you expect from following a particular methodology?

There is no easy answer to this question. This is because there is no one cause of cancer -- it is not just the pollution, the chemicals, the heavy metals, the toxins in the world around us or within our own bodies that cause cancer, or the degradation of our immune systems, or a lack of exercise, poor diet, or infections, parasites or pathogens, or negative beliefs, or a sudden shock or emotional turmoil -- but most likely a synthesis of various different causative factors.

Addressing the underlying cause of cancer
The only way to really 'cure' cancer is to address the underlying cause. Because of the complexity of the cause, healing cancer or any other illness obviously requires more than the conventional medical approach of surgery/chemo/radiotherapy. While this approach may work for some, true and lasting healing will more likely require a synthesis of different modalities to help us heal on all levels of being -- the physical, emotional and spiritual. Good health is a delicate, synergistic balancing act.

So how do you choose which method of healing is best for you? You firstly need the right balance of information from independent sources, you will need the assistance of compassionate and open-minded health professionals, you will need the love and support of your family, and you will also benefit from joining a cancer support group. Then, knowing you have the support you need, you will be well placed to decide what course of treatments is right for you.

Which cancer therapy is right for YOU?
Choice is a very personal thing. What is most important is that any choices you make are exactly that -- YOUR choices, rather than those imposed by doctors, oncologists, healers or even well-meaning loved ones. To make good choices you need to get yourself empowered. A starting point may be learning to meditate, or at least doing something which helps you develop your intuition and sense of 'knowing' what is right or wrong. Once you have made this inner connection, you can be confident that whatever choices you make are the right ones.
